# Evakage

> Temporary, end-to-end encrypted chat and file sharing.

**Temporary conversations. End-to-end encrypted messages and files.**

Connect browsers by code or QR, chat directly, or invite a group into a room. Use Evakage in your browser or install it as an app.

## What to expect

* **Private content.** Your devices encrypt and decrypt messages and files. The server cannot read relayed content.
* **Temporary delivery.** Chat lives in browser memory. Server copies expire and disappear on restart. Save files you want to keep.
* **Simple connections.** Pair devices with a private code or QR invitation. Advertising is off by default.
* **Optional accounts.** Chat, send files, and join rooms without signing up. An account lets you create rooms and connect your signed-in devices.

## Get started

1. Open an existing instance or [host your own](/hosting/deployment).
2. [Connect two devices](/quickstart#connect-devices).
3. [Send messages and files](/guides/transfers) or [create a room](/guides/rooms).

Read [privacy and storage](/hosting/privacy) to understand what stays and what disappears.
